Global Environmental Issues
The twenty-first century is marked by the recognition of the environmental and human consequences in many countries. I consider that the environmental problem is an economic and mostly political concern. However, in some developing countries trying to increase their economic and financial activities consideration for environmental problems is often in low priority. Air and water pollution are grave problems in the developing world. In main cities there are huge plants and factories. Air pollution is also marked by heavy traffic which produces high concentrations of sulfur dioxide and other harmful substances. Countries are affected by the damage from acid rain. Pollution of seas, rivers, lakes from different chemicals and abnormal growth of toxic algae, water shortages, and tropical forest destruction became principal concerns in many countries.
Environmental Problems in Developing Countries.
Some developing countries give social and economic development the highest priority. At the same time many problems concerning safe drinking water and food, medical and public health services are very actual. Enormous use of coal in the Chinese of Taigen region is the reason of the worst air pollution in the country. As a result, many people are affected by respiratory diseases and lung cancer. Less developed countries face such serious environmental problems as deforestation, degradation of coastal territories, overfishing, desertification, land degradation, loss of rare species of plant and animals. Some countries produce environmentally harmful products and worn-out technologies.
I believe that the leaders of these countries must integrate environmental considerations into their inner policies, provide environmental education and public awareness in order to avoid grave consequences.
